Do you support paying for English and Punjabi street signs in Prince George, BC?

Ok....pet peeve number two.

Canada has two official languages the last time I checked.  I find it offensive enough that you are not allowed to have English language signs in Quebec without the language police being all over you like white on rice, but now a minority group is petitioning the Prince George, British Columbia city council to PAY FOR and install bilingual, English and Punjabi, street signs in certain areas of the city near their temples.  I feel that we have many social issues that lack funding in Canada, such as child abuse, poverty, education, violence etc (the list goes ON and ON!!!) to be spending money on this.  Many comments on the CBC story indicate that if you're against it then you are a bigot.  I'm not.  The petitioners say that this is required to help their congregants find the temple, but if this is such a big issue to this community then why haven't they taken the initiative to produce signs themselves and install them providing these directions? 1. After reading most of my friends comments on my Facebook posting I'm feeling better. Some of the comments on the CBC site seem to indicate that if you oppose this you must be a neanderthal, knuckle-dragging bigot (MY words!). Since I know I'm not and I don't keep company with people like that I think we're ok!
